Male Circumcision vs Female Circumcision

Let's start with the facts, controversial topic yes, why is that male circumcision is commonly acceptable yet female circumcision not so much?  Seems pretty obvious to me, but I'm happy to explain. Male circumcision dates back to the 19th century and was prevalent within the Egyptians and those of Jewish faith, also Islamic people practiced this surgery for religious and now for health benefits as well.  "Circumcision is the surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of the penis. Circumcision is fairly common for newborn boys in certain parts of the world, including the United States. Circumcision after the newborn period is possible, but it's a more complex procedure." I've quoted this definition from Mayo Clinic.Org   Here are the benefits from male circumcision and why they do it in the first place.
"Easier hygiene. Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis. Washing beneath the foreskin of an uncircumcised penis is generally easy, however.
Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. The overall risk of urinary tract infections in males is low, but these infections are more common in uncircumcised males. Severe infections early in life can lead to kidney problems later on.
Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. Circumcised men might have a lower risk of certain sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Still, safe sexual practices remain essential.
Prevention of penile problems. Occasionally, the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis can be difficult or impossible to retract (phimosis). This can lead to inflammation of the foreskin or head of the penis.
Decreased risk of penile cancer. Although cancer of the penis is rare, it's less common in circumcised men. In addition, cervical cancer is less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men."
Again I've quoted all of this information from Mayo Clinic.Org

The most important thing that I want to point out as far as the procedure goes is that when this surgery takes place, 1) these infants are not traumatized for life 2) they do not lose any sexual function what so ever 3) They are not told that they will lose their place in their communities , there is No Stigma, there is No Dishonor or Blame 4) In fact this surgery is in their best interest health wise

Definitely something to consider here is the main topic at hand which is circumcision all together, yes or no?? Boy or Girl? is it ok? Well c'mon people let's get it together, its 2015, we're not living in the Ice Ages anymore, Hopefully by now we can figure out what's right from wrong, and what's cruel and unusual.  Perhaps this has gone too far and the idea that one's body needs to be altered at such a young age is ludicrous, but who am I?

  1. This was an excellent topic that needs more light shed upon it. Although many of the images are absolutely heartbreaking, it shows the harsh reality of what goes on in many parts of the world. This is a disgusting practice that needs to banished completely.

  2. You ask, "But who am I" in response to this very controversial topic. You are an engaged, interested member of the public that is responding to the need to make this under-reported topic more widely known to the public, and as long as the information includes respectful consideration of religious and cultural beliefs and practices, it stands as a needed critical analysis of the practice.

  3. MIND BLOWN by your presentation. You can see that you are very passionate about your under reported story. I wish I could have picked this intriguing topic. After reading your posts it made me feel disappointed as a man in a very heinous world. FGM should be put to a stop but it is a fight worth fighting for even if it may take years for the resocialization of an abundant amount of individuals in our world's new cultural norms.
